High-Speed Data and AI Photonics Pioneer Wins 7th Major Award in 15 Months
POET Technologies earns fresh recognition as partnerships with Semtech and Sivers bolster momentum in AI connectivity.

POET Technologies (NASDAQ: POET) (TSXV: PTK), a fast-rising leader in integrated photonics for high-speed data and artificial intelligence networks, has taken home its seventh major industry award in just over a year. The Toronto-based company captured the “Most Innovative Chip-scale Packaging/Optical Sub Assembly Product” at the ECOC 2025 Exhibition in Copenhagen, cementing its role as one of the most closely watched players in the optical communications sector.
The accolade, presented at Europe’s largest fiber optic communications conference, highlights POET’s Optical Interposer™ platform and its breakthrough applications for AI and datacom markets. The company’s 1.6-terabit optical engines, branded POET Teralight™, stood out as industry peers and customers weighed the technologies most likely to reshape the future of data center and AI network infrastructure.

POET Executive Chairman and CEO Dr. Suresh Venkatesan commented on the win, stating:
“We are greatly honored to receive the ECOC Award from our peers and industry leaders. Such recognition builds on the momentum we are seeing from technology experts and our growing customer base. Being recognized for having the most innovative chip-scale packaging at a time when the industry is searching for solutions to satisfy AI systems networks and datacenter hyperscalers will only result in more interest in POET and our commercial-ready products.”
A String of Industry Accolades
This latest award underscores a consistent pattern of recognition for POET. Over the past 15 months, the company has emerged as one of the few semiconductor innovators repeatedly acknowledged by independent panels of judges and analysts across photonics, packaging, and datacom categories. The repeated validation comes at a pivotal moment for the sector, as AI deployments and hyperscale data centers create unprecedented demand for bandwidth and energy-efficient optical connections.
At the heart of POET’s approach is its Optical Interposer, a patented platform that enables the seamless integration of electronic and photonic devices on a single chip. By eliminating many of the traditional assembly steps, the platform not only reduces cost and complexity but also improves performance, a combination that has struck a chord with both customers and partners.
Expanding Partnerships with Semtech
POET’s award coincides with the rollout of new products developed in collaboration with Semtech Corporation (NASDAQ: SMTC). The two companies recently announced the availability of 1.6-terabit receiver optical engines designed for AI and cloud networks. These engines integrate Semtech’s FiberEdge 200G-per-lane receiver technology with POET’s Optical Interposer, creating highly efficient, chip-scale devices for both short-reach AI cluster links and longer intra-datacenter connections.
Raju Kankipati, Chief Revenue Officer at POET Technologies, said:
“By integrating Semtech’s leading 200G-per-lane receiver technology with POET’s chip-scale optical interposer, we’ve achieved exceptional receiver performance that addresses the most demanding requirements for AI and cloud networks. We expect customers will quickly understand the market impact these products can make on their transceiver offerings and the resulting benefit to their customers. This collaboration also further deepens POET’s presence in the global high-speed optical transceiver ecosystem.”
For Semtech, the tie-up provides a new route to address power efficiency and signal integrity challenges at the bleeding edge of AI connectivity. With evaluation units now sampling to customers, analysts say the partnership could accelerate POET’s pathway from technology showcase to commercial adoption.

Joint Innovation with Sivers Semiconductors
POET is also strengthening ties with Sivers Semiconductors (STO: SIVE), a Swedish supplier of advanced optical components. The two firms are co-developing External Light Source modules that target the emerging co-packaged optics market, a crucial next step in scaling AI infrastructure. By combining Sivers’ high-power laser arrays with POET’s interposer platform, the partnership aims to deliver cost-effective, power-efficient solutions ready for volume deployment.
“POET’s Optical Interposer has demonstrated tremendous value in enabling modular and scalable photonic solutions,” Dr. Venkatesan said. “By working with Sivers’ proven high-power laser technology, we can deliver external light source modules optimized for size, performance and cost, exactly what the CPO and AI markets demand.”
Industry analysts estimate the annual market opportunity for External Light Source modules already exceeds $1 billion, part of a broader $50 billion AI optical connectivity ecosystem. Early prototypes are expected in 2026, with production readiness by year-end.
Looking Ahead
With seven awards in 15 months, commercial-ready products hitting the market, and partnerships with industry heavyweights like Semtech and Sivers, POET is entering a defining chapter. Demand from AI clusters and hyperscale data centers shows no sign of slowing, and the company’s integrated photonics strategy positions it directly in the flow of capital and innovation reshaping global networks.
The photonics race is heating up, and POET’s blend of award-winning technology, strategic collaborations, and growing customer adoption suggests it intends not just to compete but to lead.
