Musk Pledges $45 Million a Month to New Pro-Trump Super PAC
The America PAC, which is focused on increasing voter registration, early voting, and mail-in ballots in key swing states has also garnered substantial financial support from other prominent tech and crypto figures, such as Joe Lonsdale and Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss.
Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA), has committed to providing $45 million monthly to a new pro-Trump super political action committee (PAC) named America PAC. This substantial financial backing marks a significant shift in Musk’s political alignment and aims to bolster former President Donald Trump’s bid for the White House in the 2024 election.
America PAC, established in June, focuses on increasing voter registration, early voting, and mail-in ballots in key swing states. The PAC’s strategic efforts are designed to counteract the Democratic Party’s historically effective voter mobilization campaigns, ensuring robust turnout for Trump.
Musk’s Trump Endorsement
Elon Musk’s decision to support Trump comes after publicly endorsing the former president following the failed assassination attempt on Trump at his campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania this past weekend. Trump was injured after a bullet shot by the would-be assassin struck his ear, leaving him bloodied and coming just millimetres from killing him.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal:
“This move cements Musk’s shift towards right-wing politics and gives Trump a high-profile backer in his bid to return to the White House.”
Mega Donors Join Forces Behind Trump
The PAC has already garnered significant support from other prominent figures in the tech and financial sectors. Joe Lonsdale, co-founder of Palantir, contributed $1 million, while Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, well-known crypto entrepreneurs, each donated $250,000. Other notable donors include Joe Craft, CEO of Alliance Resource Partners, and his wife, former U.S. ambassador to Canada Kelly Craft, who contributed a combined $2 million. Florida restaurateur James Liautaud and Douglas Leone of Sequoia Capital also each donated $1 million.
America PAC FEC Filing and Fund Allocation
Despite Musk’s pledge, his name did not appear in America PAC’s most recent filing with the U.S. Federal Election Commission, which reported over $8 million raised. The PAC’s filings reveal it spent $7.8 million in the second quarter, with a focus on canvassing, digital media, and other voter outreach efforts.
Focus on Swing States
The PAC’s efforts are largely concentrated in battleground states where elections are often decided by narrow margins. By prioritizing early voting and mail-in ballots, America PAC aims to secure a substantial portion of the electorate before Election Day, thereby enhancing Trump’s chances of victory.
2024 Election Implications
Musk’s substantial financial commitment to America PAC and his public endorsement of Trump are seen as pivotal moments in the 2024 presidential race. This alliance underscores the growing momentum Trump has garnered among influential donors in the tech and financial sectors. The shift is particularly noteworthy given Musk’s previous stance of political neutrality.
Todd Gordon, founder of Inside Edge Capital, noted:
“The influx of funds from high-profile donors like Musk can significantly amplify Trump’s campaign efforts, especially in key swing states where voter turnout is crucial.”
Shaping the Political Landscape
As the 2024 election approaches, America PAC’s robust fundraising and strategic voter mobilization efforts are poised to play a critical role in shaping the political landscape. With Musk’s backing, the PAC’s influence is expected to grow, potentially altering the dynamics of one of the most closely-watched elections in U.S. history.
